If you’ve never had liposuction before, the procedure can seem pretty intimidating. Fear not — with a qualified cosmetic surgeon (Dr. BBL is seriously one of the best in the nation), liposuction doesn’t have to be intimidating at all. Rather, exciting might be a better descriptor — after all, the results from a single session can be quite astonishing.

To help clear up any liposuction questions or confusion, the experts at Arijai Aesthetics answer FAQs about the procedure below.

What’s the Difference Between Lipo 360 and Traditional Lipo?

The Lipo 360 procedure targets the entire midsection to remove unwanted body fat from the abs, obliques, and back. It’s designed to help create a stunning hourglass figure by improving the waist-to-hip ratio.

Traditional liposuction, on the other hand, targets just a single area of fat deposits at a time. It’s not as comprehensive as Lipo 360. At Arijai, we use Smart Lipo for add-on lipo procedures.

What’s a Brazilian Butt Lift aka BBL?

A Brazilian Butt Lift is a combination of Lipo 360 and fat transfer. During the procedure, your cosmetic surgeon removes excess adipose tissue from your entire midsection, washes the removed fat, and transfers it to your buttock area. The BBL is the most effective surgical procedure for creating a stunning, curvy, contoured silhouette.

Is Liposuction Painful?

The liposuction procedure itself isn’t painful as you’ll be under general anesthesia the entire time. After the procedure, however, you should expect to feel some degree of soreness. Each patient is different — some experience minor soreness while more pain-sensitive individuals have moderate to severe post-op discomfort.

What’s the Lipo Recovery Process Like?

After a Lipo 360 or BBL procedure, the initial healing period lasts for approximately six to eight weeks. During this period, be prepared for bruising and swelling as your body recovers from the surgery. As this is the most critical period in the healing process, you must follow your surgeon’s post-op instructions to the letter.

During the healing period, you’ll need to wear a compression garment at all times, except when you bathe and wash the garment. If you have a BBL procedure, you’ll need to sleep on your stomach and stay off your tush during the initial healing period. The Booty Buddy Pillow we provide will help you sit comfortably while avoiding full contact with furniture.

During the healing period, you can expect to drop about two to three dress sizes. After initial healing is complete, your figure will continue improving over the following months.

When Can I Expect to See the Final Result of My Lipo Treatment?

Usually, patients begin seeing preliminary results after a month and more noticeable results after three months. It may take up to 12 months for you to see the final results of your liposuction procedure. However, every patient is different, and the timeframe for results depends heavily on the amount of fat removed.

How Long Do Results Last?

With a healthy diet and adequate exercise, liposuction results can last indefinitely. In the state of Minnesota, we can remove up to five liters of fat in a single liposuction session. If you wish to have additional treatments to achieve your ideal figure, you can come back for a second or even third round of liposuction.

Does Liposuction Have Any Side Effects?

Liposuction, like any surgical procedure, comes with the potential for side effects. The most common ones include:

●        Allergic reactions

●        Uneven fat removal

●        Infection

●        Scarring

●        Irregular dimpling or seromas

●        Numbness or burning sensations

It’s important to note that not every patient who receives liposuction experiences noticeable side effects. As with any surgical procedure, results vary from patient to patient.

Are There Any Surgical Requirements I Must Meet?

Yes. At Arijai, we only perform cosmetic surgeries on patients who are between the ages of 18 and 55. We also require that you’re BMI is no greater than 32 and your hemoglobin level is at least 12.0.

Will My Health Insurance Cover Lipo?

Liposuction is classified as an elective treatment, which means your health insurance won’t cover it. At Arijai, we do offer financing for the procedure through Care Credit and United Medical Credit.
