No matter how high quality your skin care products are or how diligently you wash, moisturize, and protect your face from UV rays, skin aging is inevitable. It starts in your mid-20s as your body naturally decreases its production of collagen, and from there, your skin gets progressively dryer, thinner, and less elastic. Fortunately, skin care products aren’t the only anti-aging tool you have in your arsenal. Cosmetic procedures can take anti-aging skin care to a whole new level.

But not all anti-aging treatments are created equal and some are significantly more effective than others. Given the vast array of procedures available, though, it can be tough to determine which ones will produce the best and longest-lasting results.

At Arijai Aesthetics, we’ve got you covered. Below, we’re sharing three time-tested, anti-aging cosmetic procedures that can actually take years off your face.

Dermal Fillers

Soft-tissue fillers, also known as dermal fillers, are injected just beneath the skin to add structure and fullness to areas of the face that have lost volume or that are getting a little lax. While dermal fillers won’t necessarily improve the appearance of age-related skin irregularities like sunspots, melanocytes, and hyperpigmentation, they do an excellent job of:

●        Adding height to the cheekbones

●        Adding fullness to hollow under-eye areas and cheeks

●        Adding structure and fullness to the jawline

●        Filling in vertical lines

●        Sculpting and volumizing the lips

●        Filling in lines around the mouth and nose (nasolabial folds)

●        Diminishing the appearance of facial scarring

There are several types of fillers out there, most of which contain hyaluronic acid or poly-L-lactic acid, both of which the body naturally absorbs over time. Recently, researchers have also discovered that fillers help stimulate your body’s natural collagen production when they’re injected on a regular basis over extended periods.

Botox

The botulinum toxin is the primary ingredient in the anti-aging injectables Botox, Xeomin, and Dysport. This toxin functions to prevent the release of the neurotransmitter, acetylcholine, which is the substance that stimulates your facial muscles to contract.

Injections of Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin all carry very little risk and are extremely effective at diminishing the appearance of lines and wrinkles and even preventing their formation. Currently, Botox is the most popular cosmetic injectable in the world, with over 6 million injections administered in 2019 alone.

Microneedling

Microneedling is designed to rejuvenate aging skin by stimulating your skin’s natural collagen and elastin production and prompting your body’s natural healing response. The procedure involves the use of a microneedling pen (at Arijai, we use the SkinPen device), which contains several tiny needles that pierce the upper layer of the skin during the treatment.

Those tiny punctures, called micro-injuries, immediately activate your body’s immune response. Your immune system sends an influx of oxygenated blood, nutrients, proteins, and growth factors to the treatment area to begin the process of building new skin.

For more dramatic results, microneedling can be combined with autologous platelet-rich plasma injections, which are derived from your blood. The procedure carries very minimal risk and can produce noticeable results after a single session. However, most people require multiple sessions spread over a period of several months to achieve optimal results.
